Joining the Chelmsford Dance Centre!
Now that you’ve had your first lesson at Chelmsford Dance Centre, we’d like to extend a warm welcome! We understand that transitioning from Dance Spirit to Chelmsford Dance Centre is an exciting step but may also feel a little daunting. Our goal is to make this process as smooth and enjoyable as possible for you.
We firmly believe that teaching time should be spent teaching rather than handling administrative matters. That’s why we have a dedicated office team working behind the scenes to ensure everything runs efficiently. This level of support was one of the key factors that impressed Emma and gave her confidence in bringing her business and students over to Chelmsford Dance Centre. Our priority is to ensure all former Dance Spirit pupils are well looked after and given the opportunities they deserve.
Events and Opportunities
As you may have seen on our website, we offer a wide range of events for all our students, including:
-
Medal tests
-
Festival competitions for solo dancers, couples, and teacher-pupil categories
-
Our annual stage show at the Civic Theatre
-
Team matches
-
In-school competitions
-
Dancerama, which may be your child’s first event with us
For full event details, please visit our website at www.chelmsforddance.com. Under the "Take Part" section, you’ll find all events listed in date order. Our event calendar is planned at least 12 months in advance, and as events often sell out quickly, early booking is recommended.
It’s also worth keeping an eye on our social media, which is always up to date.
Booking & Membership Information
Many events follow a two-part booking process:
-
Purchase an e-ticket through the CDC Box Office.
-
Complete an online entry form to finalise your participation.
Please be mindful of cut-off dates, which are usually at least a month before an event. Once the deadline has passed, we are unable to process late entries.
CDC Club Membership
We also operate a Chelmsford Dance Centre Membership Scheme, and you have been automatically enrolled in a complimentary four-week trial. After this period, we highly recommend continuing membership, which costs £30 per year. Benefits include:
-
Children’s membership: A Chelmsford Dance Centre uniform T-shirt, access to special events like Easter and Christmas parties, plus a VE Day party on 10th May.
-
Adult membership: Free admission to themed social dance parties, such as our Valentine’s Dance with cheese and wine, Easter (70s & 80s themed), Christmas parties, and Club Bar access.
You will receive an automated invitation to continue your membership four weeks after your first lesson.
Private Lesson Bookings
We offer two types of private lessons:
-
Regular weekly lessons – Booked with a consistent teacher at the same time each week. These can be scheduled via the office, our website’s contact form, or by calling (01245) 473355. If you cancel three consecutive lessons, the system will automatically remove the recurrence and offer the slot to the next person on the waiting list.
-
Ad hoc private lessons – Available with any teacher and bookable up to three weeks in advance via your online portal.
All our teachers work collaboratively, keeping detailed lesson notes so that any instructor can seamlessly continue your training if needed. This ensures continuity in the event of teacher illness or schedule changes.
Meet the Team
To help you settle in, here’s a quick guide to key people at the studio:
-
Phil Meacham – Founder, Principal & Managing Director, overseeing teaching standards and student progress.
-
Zara Meacham – Company Secretary & Safeguarding Officer, ensuring all legal and ethical responsibilities are met.
-
Hannah Marson – Studio Manager, responsible for the daily running of the studio and staff coordination.
-
Shauna Hawes – Assistant Studio Manager, working alongside Hannah to support students and teachers.
Hannah and Shauna are usually present in the studio and will likely be your main points of contact, alongside your teacher.
Final Thoughts
We know this is a lot of information, but we hope it helps make your transition smooth and enjoyable. The structure and support we offer were key factors in Emma’s decision to bring her students here, ensuring they have the best experience possible.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. We look forward to being part of your dance journey!
Best wishes,
Phil & The CDC Team
