Phil Meacham

Your Host

Phil Promo Pic 2020.png

Phil has been immersed in the glamorous world of dance since the tender age of 4, with family memories of him joyfully grasping the dropped front of an old-fashioned Radiogram while wiggling his diaper-clad bottom. It's safe to say he's always been a natural performer, in addition to excelling as a professional dancer.

From those early days, his career has blossomed, encompassing roles as a radio presenter for the BBC and various television appearances, ranging from children's programs to the satirical gem "A Comic Strip Presents..." on Channel 4. This diverse background has uniquely qualified him to be a dynamic dance event host, these days also doing work as an after-dinner speaker.

His experience in dance hosting spans from intimate gatherings to the grand National Championships, with each event offering its own distinct flavour. The truth is, you can never predict exactly what will unfold when Phil takes the reins, but one thing's for sure: it will always be an enjoyable and entertaining experience!

Judge

Julie Tomkins

Julie Tomkins.jpg

Julie Tomkins began her dancing journey as a juvenile at the world-famous Olga Wilmot School of Dancing, quickly establishing herself as a standout talent. She went on to become one of the country’s youngest ever qualified professionals, competing with distinction as a juvenile, junior and adult, before progressing into the professional championship arena. Her competitive career included appearances in major professional events, notably the demanding Professional 10 Dance Competitions, where she competed alongside (and against) our very own Phil.

Julie’s career has since evolved into one of international respect and recognition. She is known worldwide as one of the finest technicians in the business, with an exceptional eye for detail, precision and musical interpretation.

As an adjudicator, Julie is strong, fair and highly focused, taking her responsibilities extremely seriously. However, those who catch her eye during the event may notice a subtle glint that hints at the mischievous personality beneath.

A true maverick of our industry, we are enormously proud to welcome Julie Tomkins as Head Judge at "The Raleigh".
